How the Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) works
As a CBBenefits member, you also have access to an RRSP to give you another way to save – tax-deferred - for your future.
You can open a personal RRSP (in your name) or a Spousal RRSP (in your spouse’s name, where you are the contributor).
Your spouse and dependants can also open an RRSP in the CBBenefits program under their own name (they are the contributor) and benefit from the same low fees that you get as a member.
RRSP investment options – Depending on when you’re going to retire, you can choose a Target Date fund, or, there are funds available across a variety of asset classes, including:
- Canadian Equity
- Global Equity
- Global Growth Equity
- Fixed Income
- Money Market
- Real Estate
To open an RRSP and start contributing: log in to My Canada Life at Work and complete the online enrollment process.
- Go to Manage Portfolio > Change Your Portfolio > Enrolment Express
- Choose the RRSP option and complete the form
